Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has successfully concluded its participation in GITEX Africa 2024, held in Marrakech, Morocco, showcasing its key programs and initiatives aimed at fostering growth in the digital economy. As part of its mission to position Dubai as a leading global capital of the digital economy, the chamber actively encouraged African companies to participate in Expand North Star 2024, the world’s biggest event for startups and investors, scheduled for October 2024 in Dubai.
During the three-day exhibition, the chamber arranged over 56 meetings with African ecosystem partners, focusing on attracting venture capitalists and companies from the continent to expand their business activities in Dubai. The chamber’s stand highlighted the competitive advantages of the emirate, as well as the extensive support available for African companies seeking to enter the Dubai market.
A standout feature of the chamber’s participation was its collaboration with the Emirates Group, which conducted three Career Clinics at the stand. These clinics aimed to attract the brightest digital talent to Dubai, addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in the region’s dynamic tech landscape.
The chamber also showcased four successful Dubai-based digital startups—Cafu, Syspos, Fleetroot, and BankBuddy—allowing them to share their inspiring success stories and the benefits of operating within Dubai’s thriving digital economy ecosystem. The engaging narratives from these startups underscored the opportunities available for new entrants in the market.
The stand attracted more than 860 visitors, serving as a vibrant platform to display various initiatives led by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. Among these initiatives is the ‘Business in Dubai’ online portal, designed to assist digital companies in establishing or expanding their presence in Dubai. The portal offers convenient access to a range of institutional services and business matching activities, facilitating smoother entry for international companies.
Throughout GITEX Africa, the chamber delivered four insightful presentations on Dubai’s favorable economic landscape and its supportive digital economy ecosystem. These sessions provided valuable insights into the competitive advantages for digital startups and the support mechanisms in place to aid their expansion into global markets.
In addition to presentations, the chamber participated in a fireside chat discussing its role in developing Dubai’s digital economy, attracting talent, and launching various programs to support startups. A panel discussion featuring entrepreneurs from the four showcased companies allowed them to discuss their success stories and strategies for growth.
A highlight of the event was the GITEX Africa Supernova Challenge, part of North Star Africa, which invited businesses from various sectors to pitch their innovative ideas. The winner of this largest-ever startup pitch competition in Africa received a fully funded opportunity from the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy to participate in Expand North Star 2024 in Dubai.
The chamber’s active participation in GITEX Africa aligns with its strategic priorities to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global destination for the digital economy, contributing to the objectives outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
