Etihad Airways and STARLUX Airlines have entered into a new strategic codeshare agreement, boosting connectivity between Abu Dhabi and Northeast Asia. The partnership, unveiled at the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, is set to enhance access for travelers moving between East and West.
Beginning 7th September 2025, Etihad will operate daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Taipei utilizing Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This new route will act as a cornerstone for the joint initiative, positioning Taipei as a pivotal gateway for the airline’s Northeast Asian expansion.
Through this collaboration, Etihad customers will gain streamlined connections to important Japanese cities such as Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka via Taipei. Conversely, STARLUX passengers will gain direct access to Etihad’s European network through Abu Dhabi.
As stated by Arik De, “This partnership with STARLUX Airlines opens new market opportunities in Northeast Asia, giving our customers access to Japan’s key business and leisure destinations through Taipei.“
Simon Liu also highlighted, “Our partnership with Etihad Airways marks a significant milestone in STARLUX Airlines’ global expansion, laying the foundation for future European routes.“
This codeshare agreement reinforces Etihad’s network expansion strategy, with the carrier now serving over 90 destinations globally, and further solidifies Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a central hub connecting different continents.
