Space42 Signs Landmark Strategic Partnership with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service
LUANDA, Angola, 26th August 2025 – Space42, a United Arab Emirates-based, AI-powered SpaceTech company, has announced the signing of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM), paving the way for a five-year strategic alliance across multiple advanced technology domains.
The partnership sets out ambitious goals for collaboration in the fields of satellite communications, Earth observation, artificial intelligence, high-altitude platform stations (HAPS), national security drones, border control solutions, and the creation of advanced command and control centres.
The signing ceremony took place in Luanda, attended by Space42’s Chief Commercial Officer, Sulaiman Al Ali, and senior Angolan military officials, underscoring a high-level commitment to transforming Angola’s national security infrastructure and technological landscape.
Space42 already operates a robust presence in Angola, delivering 100% national coverage through its YahClick satellite broadband service. The partnership will further leverage this foundation by integrating services from the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite system, reinforcing Space42’s long-term vision and the evolution of its relationship with Angola.
“We’re incredibly excited about this partnership and what it means for Angola,” said Sulaiman Al Ali. “After years of serving the Angolan people through our satellite services, this MoU represents a natural evolution of our commitment to the country. When General Massano and his team visited us in the UAE, we could see their genuine interest in how our space technology and AI solutions could make a real difference – not just for national security, but for the everyday lives of Angola’s people and communities. This collaboration builds on our longstanding relationship and represents an opportunity to create something truly meaningful together.”
The MoU is the culmination of recent high-level meetings held in the UAE between General João Pereira Massano, head of Angola’s Military Intelligence and Security Service, and Space42’s executive leadership team. During these sessions, Space42 delivered live demonstrations and product presentations, highlighting advanced capabilities in space-based intelligence and AI-powered solutions, which ultimately led to the formalisation of this partnership.
Under the agreement, both parties will focus on developing and deploying solutions across seven priority areas:
- Satellite Communications Technologies: Enhanced and secure communication leveraging advanced satellite infrastructure.
- Earth Observation: High-resolution imagery and geospatial intelligence for situational awareness.
- Artificial Intelligence: Automated analytics and intelligence processing to support smarter decision-making.
- High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS): Airborne systems supporting communications and Earth observation.
- National Security Drones: Specialized unmanned aerial vehicles for surveillance and border security.
- Border Control Solutions: Integrated technology systems to strengthen border monitoring capabilities.
- Command and Control Centre: Centralized hub for secure and efficient operations management.
This major agreement underscores Space42’s expansion across Africa and its ongoing commitment to equipping government partners with advanced space technology and AI-driven solutions.
