Abu Dhabi, UAE – AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS) and Burjeel Holdings (ADX: BURJEEL) have officially launched their healthcare logistics joint venture, DOCKTOUR, at the Make it in the Emirates event — one of the UAE’s premier economic development programs.
The platform was introduced at the Burjeel Holdings booth in the presence of:
- H.E. Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology
- Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director & Group CEO of AD Ports Group
- Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings
DOCKTOUR represents a bold step forward in transforming healthcare logistics across Africa. The joint venture offers a comprehensive, unified healthcare supply chain platform that merges logistics, modular infrastructure, clinical training, and emergency response systems to transform how medical services reach underserved areas.
The initiative will work in tandem with Burjeel Holdings’ operations and management firm, Operonix, known for its success in overseeing large-scale healthcare projects in Africa. Backed by AD Ports Group’s robust logistics infrastructure and expansive footprint in key African markets, DOCKTOUR aims to radically improve efficiency and reliability in healthcare delivery.
By combining AD Ports Group’s logistical capabilities with Burjeel Holdings’ healthcare expertise, DOCKTOUR intends to address critical healthcare challenges across Africa. This includes optimizing medical supply chains, deploying container-based hospitals and clinics, and developing both temporary field units and permanent healthcare facilities.
According to Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi,
“DOCKTOUR is about delivering impact where it’s needed most. By uniting our logistics expertise with Burjeel’s medical proficiency, we are creating a platform that can redefine healthcare delivery across Africa. This aligns with our leadership’s vision of enabling sustainable, community-centered healthcare solutions.”
In line with the UAE’s humanitarian mission, DOCKTOUR will strengthen emergency healthcare capabilities, ensuring fast delivery of critical medical supplies during crises. It will also invest in local training programs and implement smart inventory solutions to close service delivery gaps across the continent.
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil explained:
“DOCKTOUR introduces a new model of healthcare intervention — a comprehensive platform that integrates logistics, clinical expertise, and operational reach. Our vision is to bring not only medical care but also preparedness, stability, and strategic partnerships to high-need areas.”
Beyond logistics, DOCKTOUR is set to explore the establishment of medical hubs throughout AD Ports Group’s operational zones in Africa. These will support healthcare-related services ranging from medical logistics to health tourism. The joint venture will also monitor regional healthcare trends to contribute to the long-term sustainability of Africa’s health systems.
With Africa’s population steadily increasing and Sub-Saharan GDP projected to grow through 2027, AD Ports Group and Burjeel Holdings are aligning their expertise to support the continent’s healthcare ecosystem while contributing to its economic and social resilience.
DOCKTOUR also plans to collaborate with national ministries, global NGOs, and UAE-led humanitarian programs to enhance its outreach. Through these partnerships, it will enhance disease response, maternal and child care, vaccination efforts, and health education campaigns, particularly in vulnerable or hard-to-reach communities.
The name “DOCKTOUR” is a fusion of ‘Dock’, ‘Tour’, and ‘Doctor’, symbolizing its mission of delivering mobile, accessible, and world-class healthcare. The platform leverages AD Ports Group’s expansive operations, which include:
- 34 global terminals
- A fleet of 247 vessels
- A comprehensive logistics network
These assets empower DOCKTOUR to operate at scale and bring transformative healthcare services to diverse African regions.
