Ajman, 27th July 2026—A significant meeting took place between Salem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Ndhuma Richard, Acting Head of the South African Consulate. The discussions aimed at fortifying economic cooperation, expanding bilateral trade and investment, and exploring collaboration opportunities in areas such as industry, tourism, and education.
Held at the Chamber’s headquarters, the meeting was attended by influential figures, including Mohammed Ali Al Jannahi, Abdullah Abdul Mohsen Al Nuaimi, Fatima Yaqoub Al Awadhi, and representatives from the South African Consulate, Themba Adolphus and Mfuwo Walter. Al Suwaidi welcomed the attendees and praised the development of bilateral relations between the UAE and South Africa, especially in economic sectors and the growth of trade.
Al Suwaidi reaffirmed the Ajman Chamber’s dedication to strengthening ties with the South African business community, emphasizing efforts to build effective partnerships that support the growth of trade and investment. The Ajman Chamber showcased the Emirate’s economic strengths and investment opportunities in industry, trade, healthcare, logistics, technology, and real estate. Highlighting Ajman’s strategic location, ease of doing business, and integrated infrastructure, the presentation positioned the Emirate as a prime investment destination.
Discussions also delved into the education sector, particularly the potential role of the Ajman International Education and Training Exhibition as a platform for academic partnerships and expertise exchange. The possibility of South African universities participating in the 2027 edition was explored, aiming to foster cooperation and keep pace with the rapid growth of Ajman’s education sector.
In tourism, the meeting focused on leveraging the diverse tourism assets of both regions. Both sides acknowledged the importance of enhancing cooperation and organizing forums for business owners and investors to foster economic partnerships.
Richard highlighted the importance of collaboration, mentioning South Africa’s economic strengths: “South Africa’s diverse economic attributes, including its infrastructure, diversified industrial sector, and rich natural resources, open promising horizons for the Ajman business community to benefit from various sectors.”
The meeting ended on a positive note with an exchange of commemorative shields and gifts, symbolizing the commitment to continued partnership and collaboration.
