Integrated Transport Centre and Tatweer Middle East & Africa Forge R&D Partnership for Smart Mobility in Abu Dhabi
Dubai, 15th October, 2025 – The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), under the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has signed a research and development cooperation agreement with Tatweer Middle East & Africa during GITEX GLOBAL 2025. This strategic partnership aims to bolster institutional collaboration and foster the development of innovative solutions for a safe and smart mobility ecosystem in Abu Dhabi, consolidating the emirate’s position at the forefront of advanced technology adoption and sustainable mobility.
The agreement was formalized by Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, and Dr. Atef Garib, CEO of Tatweer Middle East & Africa, with the presence of senior officials and specialists from both organisations. The signing highlights a common resolve to pursue strategic partnerships that drive both innovation and sustainability in Abu Dhabi’s transport sector.
Under this agreement, ITC and Tatweer Middle East & Africa will extend cooperation in R&D, technology transfer, and prototyping for intelligent transport systems. Key joint initiatives will harness AI, machine learning, and big-data analytics to deliver advanced solutions aimed at enhancing network efficiency and road safety across the emirate. The collaboration includes conducting field trials and collecting stakeholder feedback to continuously improve services, alongside the development of smart systems for road and parking management.
A critical component of the agreement is the introduction of customised training programmes and capacity-building initiatives for ITC employees, carried out in collaboration with international institutes dedicated to smart-mobility technologies.
The arrangement clearly defines roles and responsibilities: ITC will offer strategic oversight, supervise project outcomes, and evaluate the impacts on Abu Dhabi’s transport system in alignment with its regulatory and supervisory mandate. Tatweer Middle East & Africa will provide data, analysis, and technical support essential for achieving the agreement’s objectives and delivering on shared outcomes.
This new agreement reinforces both parties’ ongoing dedication to collaborating on smart, sustainable mobility solutions that advance Abu Dhabi’s vision for an integrated, modern transport ecosystem—raising performance standards, improving service quality, and anticipating the emirate’s future needs.
