Federal National Council to Participate in 11th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit in South Africa
The Federal National Council (FNC) will take part in the 11th G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20), scheduled from 29th September to 3rd October 2025 in Kleinmond, South Africa. The Summit, which is hosted by the Parliament of South Africa in cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), will be held under the theme “Harnessing parliamentary diplomacy for realisation of global solidarity, equality and sustainability.”
Ahead of the main event, the 2nd P20 Meeting of Women Parliamentarians will convene on 29th and 30th September 2025. This meeting aims to address critical issues such as gender mainstreaming in climate resilience and energy transition, empowering women in economic decision-making and development planning, and mobilising resources for women-led agricultural and entrepreneurial projects. Additionally, it will discuss ways of strengthening political representation and leadership of women in legislative bodies.
The Summit itself will feature four high-level sessions focused on key global issues:
- Strengthening disaster resilience and responses
- Ensuring debt sustainability for low-income countries
- Mobilising finance for a just energy transition
- Harnessing critical minerals for inclusive growth and sustainable development
By engaging with these topics, the FNC aims to contribute to international discussions on solidarity, equality, and sustainability, and reinforce the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing contemporary global challenges.
